Everyday guides

The daily loop, one job per page. These are how-to guides — short, task-shaped, "to do X, run Y." They assume you have a repository already; if you don't, the getting-started tutorials walk you from tovio init to your first commit, and the concepts explain why TOVIO works the way it does.

The everyday loop is small on purpose. Most days you live in these commands:

tovio status # what change am I on, what's modified, any conflicts
tovio commit -m "…" # finalize this change, start the next
tovio land … # ship a change onto a lane
tovio undo # reverse the latest supported local op-log mutation

The recovery boundary to remember

Supported local mutations are recorded in the op-log and reversible with tovio undo — not just commits, but lands, switches, lane deletions, conflict resolutions, and history rewrites too. The op-log is local and retention-bounded: it does not recall peer observations or external effects (a sync is not an op-log entry), and explicitly irreversible maintenance such as authenticated obliteration is excluded. tovio explain undo shows the log and what the next undo would restore.

Guide When you reach for it
Read your status You're unsure of the repository's state. tovio status is the source of truth.
Commit your work Save the current change and start the next. There is no staging area.
Work with lanes Create, list, delete lanes, and switch between them.
Land a change Ship a change onto a lane; the stack auto-rebases behind it.
Undo and redo recorded operations Reverse supported retained local mutations through the op-log.
Inspect changes and history Read tovio diff and tovio log.
Explain — ask TOVIO to explain itself Replay a merge, sync, or undo decision read-only and see every step.
Rewrite history safely Amend, split, absorb, rebase — Change IDs survive.
Resolve conflicts Conflicts are stored data, not blocking errors. Resolve them when ready.

Lost? tovio status always answers.

Any time you're unsure what change you're on, what's modified, or whether anything is blocking, run tovio status. No command needs you to reconstruct state from memory.
